5 saker du måste veta om SEO, sökmotoroptimering - Limetta Digitalbyrå

What is SEO, search engine optimization, and why should you work with it

Why is SEO important? The answer is simple - if you don't show up, you don't exist. Imagine a lavishly set table sitting ready, but no guest is there or even knows it exists.

If you spend a lot of money developing concepts, design and building a site that nobody visits, it's money down the drain.

SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization and is called sökmotoroptimering in Swedish. The purpose of SEO is to appear well in search engines and to rank as high as possible in their search results. If you appear well in the search results with relevant keywords and engaging texts, it is likely to lead to more clicks and visits to your website.

How do you optimize for search engines?

If the technical platform (the CMS and possibly the e-commerce platform) works well, SEO is mostly about creating content in the right way and keeping track of relevant keywords

You who are reading this page may have searched for the keywords SEO or search engine optimization on Google. When we created this page those were the two keywords we focused on. On Google in Swedish there are 5,400 searches per month for seo, 4,400 searches for sökmotoroptimering and 70 searches for the phrase ”sökmotoroptimering seo”

Other things that are also important are that your website is fast, works well on mobile phones, that visitors show engagement on your site (time on site and visiting multiple pages) and that there are good internal and external links to the website

5 things you must know about SEO

1. Content is King!

The single most important thing you can do in SEO is to have good texts, images and other content that visitors find useful. For each page on the website you should have one or a few short sentences or stories that explain the purpose and can be used in the SEO work. For this page, for example, it is ”5 things you must know about SEO”

2. Keywords - search terms

The keywords that are important for the webpage should be included in headings, texts, images and links. Each page should have one or a few keywords that recur on the website. For this page they are SEO and search engine optimization. Before you create a page you should keep in mind which keywords you want to use

3. Title, Meta Description, H1 and URL

The story (max 65 characters) we described above should be used in Title, H1 (the page's main heading) and URL. If you have time you can vary and use alternative stories otherwise use the same. In any case the keyword must be included in all of them! The Meta Description can use one or two alternative stories (max 150 characters) and should entice visitors to click to read more

The image's ALT tags (alt and title) and links to documents and files should also contain descriptive stories

5. Patience and follow-up

When you have done all of the above this will produce results. Guaranteed! But it can take time, so be patient and check progress regularly, at least once a week. If you have a reasonably well-visited website you should see results within a month or so. Use the tools described below
