Limetta is an Umbraco Contributing Gold Partner
Umbraco is a powerful and flexible CMS (Content Management System) with an editor interface that is both modern and easy to work in. The platform is licensed as open source, which means there are no purchase or licensing fees – you only pay for development, operations and the value the system creates.
Limetta is a Contributing Gold Partner to Umbraco, a certification that shows we actively contribute to the platform's development and have documented specialist expertise. Our developers are certified by Umbraco HQ and among the most experienced .NET developers in Sweden. In short: we know Umbraco – deeply
An established and continuously developed platform
Umbraco has grown into one of the world's most well-regarded CMS platforms – with over 700,000 installations globally. The platform is continuously developed, and since version 13 it is built on .NET 8, which means higher performance, better security and a longer lifecycle.
The latest versions (14 and 15) have introduced a completely new backoffice interface with modern technology and an improved editor experience, as well as HybridCache for faster load times. At the same time, Umbraco remains true to its roots: open, flexible and built for both editors and developers.
Although Umbraco is open source, there is a strong and committed team behind it. Umbraco HQ in Denmark employs over 100 people and is responsible for development, support, training and the community – with a network of partners worldwide.
An editorial experience that stands out
Umbraco is a global CMS with Scandinavian roots. This is clearly visible in the editor interface. It is clean, attractive and well-structured. For us, that matters because a clumsy or unattractive editor interface lowers the user experience. With Umbraco we don't have to worry about that. The interface is clean, intuitive and fast, which makes it easy to create, edit and publish content – whether you're working on short news items or large campaign pages.
With the relatively new Block Grid Editor it becomes easy to build flexible page layouts without leaving the interface. Editors can combine text, image, video and forms with full control over structure and content.
The publishing system makes it possible to save drafts, preview pages on different devices and schedule publishing or unpublishing. And if you change your mind, there is full version control – you can always restore a previous version of a page.
Image handling for real
A must-have requirement is that you can work with images smoothly directly in the CMS. In Umbraco there is built-in support for uploading images by drag and drop. After that you can crop and scale images directly in the CMS. You can also set a custom focal point in the image which automated cropping functions can then use to determine which part of the image should be in focus when they need to be scaled or cropped. No more chopped-off heads or half faces, in other words. In fact, image handling in Umbraco is better than in most other commercial CMSs.
Preview on all devices
It should feel safe to publish. That's why Umbraco offers a powerful preview where you can see exactly how the page will look – on desktop, mobile and tablet – before you publish it.
The focal point makes the image scale correctly and responsively.
Integrations and customizations
Umbraco is built to work with other systems. There is an open and well-documented API and the platform is based on Microsoft .NET, which makes it easy to integrate with, for example, CRM, e‑commerce, case management or internal databases.
Limetta has extensive experience connecting Umbraco with external systems – from tailor-made integrations to pre-built solutions via Umbraco Deploy or API-driven flows.
Umbraco in the cloud
With Umbraco Cloud, based on Microsoft Azure, you get a hosting solution optimized for Umbraco – with automatic version management, security updates and built-in DevOps functionality
Besides hosting, Umbraco Cloud automatically supplies your project with the latest bug fixes and security features. When new features are released, it's just one click to apply the updates. That means you can sleep soundly at night and enjoy being able to spend your days building amazing things on one of the world's most up-to-date and secure platforms
Umbraco as a headless CMS
If you need to deliver content to multiple platforms at the same time – for example the web, a mobile app and information displays – Umbraco works excellently as a headless CMS.
From version 13 there is a built-in Content Delivery API that makes it easy to expose content via REST, without installing external packages. This means you can use the same content base for multiple channels and create consistent experiences regardless of where the user encounters your brand.
Why Umbraco works so well
- An organized media library for images, documents and other file types
- Search function for editors, i.e. the ability in the editor interface to search for a particular page or piece of content
- Fully featured page management where you can organize, move, publish, unpublish or delete pages without images or links disappearing or breaking
- A complete system for users, user groups and roles. Delegate responsibility for different websites or sections to different users. Set up workflows for writing, translation, approval for publishing, etc.
- Version control. See what changes have been made at the page level and revert to a previous version if something goes wrong.
- Form management with logging and case management. Set up forms and build processes for handling cases.
In summary
Umbraco combines the best of both worlds: stability and flexibility. It is a modern platform for organizations that want the freedom to grow and change over time – with an editorial interface that is as simple as it is powerful.
And as a Contributing Gold Partner we at Limetta support you all the way – from strategy and development to operations, upgrades and optimization.
